STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE BAY OF FIRES MASTERPLAN
The Bay of Fires Masterplan is an important project – its ambition is to set in place a roadmap for how the (sometimes competing) objectives for this special area can be balanced and what the priorities for investment in infrastructure should be.
The increase in tourism to the area offers significant economic benefits but can also negatively impact on sensitive natural, scenic and cultural values, as well as on local amenity. A Masterplan allows all the ‘bits of the puzzle’ to be put together and aims to ensure that decisions made by council, state government, the community and others looking to invest in the area are informed by and consistent with the plan.
Importantly, the development of the Masterplan will be informed by the views of those who live in and around or visit this area – so look out for opportunities to get and stay involved.

HAVE YOUR SAY
A draft masterplan for the Bay of Fires is currently on exhibition until 29 May 2026. We want as many people as possible to have a read and fill in a survey to let us know if we are heading in the right direction. We’re also keen to hear from people about what we might need to do to actually deliver the plan.
Please take 10 minutes to fill out the survey and let us know what you think! If you want to make a more detailed submission, please feel free to provide it via Break O’Day council at c.hughes@bodc.tas.gov.au, or provide feedback via the comments box below.
Your feedback matters. Fill out the survey and help guide what comes next.
